Dozens gather at Western Edge Aviation for Planes on the Prairie

DICKINSON — Western Edge Aviation held the Planes on the Prairie event on Saturday, Sept. 19, bringing dozens of people to the fixed-based operator (FBO) business neighboring the Dickinson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport. Despite the cloudy skies and light rain, the staff at Western Edge Aviation held their fly-in event from 8:30 a.m. to noon as planned. The Dickinson Eagles Club provided breakfast while members of local car clubs displayed their cars to visitors. While there were no airplane rides during the event, there were planes brought in from the Civil Air Patrol and surrounding communities. Patrick Giese, the owner of Western Edge Aviation, said during the event that people were coming in throughout the morning regardless of the weather. We re pushing over 200 plates of food, Giese said. We ve had a lot of people show. One of the planes on display at the event was a 1956 T-34B from Tioga Warbirds based in Tioga, North Dakota.
